Some ideas to get you started
Help with New Year’s Resolutions. The library has a fantastic range of materials health and fitness, covering diet, exercise, healthy living and more. So whether you just want to lose those Christmas pounds or have more long-term goals, the library is a great place to start.
Find a new hobby. Whether you are thinking about growing your own fruit and vegetables, learning about car maintenance, taking up knitting or learning a musical instrument, you will find something in the library to help.
Holiday planning. As the Christmas break draws to a close, many of us start to look ahead and plan our spring or summer holidays. The town library has shelves full of travel guides and maps; perfect for planning a getaway.
Research your family tree. The library has lots of resources to help with this.
Revisit a childhood favourite.
Take out a book that you would recommend to your partner, child or friend (but remember to get it back in time to return it).
Pick up a biography of someone you admire.
Find a new favourite author or musician. The library is full of fantastic books and CDs. Why not spend 30 minutes browsing the shelves or ask a librarian for a recommendation?
You can take out up to 10 items at any one time. So what will you use your card for this New Year? Here are just some ideas that our members have come up with so far:
What if I haven’t got a library card yet?
It’s not too late! All you need to join the library is a proof of address such as a utility bill. You can start borrowing books, CDs and DVDs the same day.
The library reopens after the festive break on Tuesday 3rd January.
Bring a sturdy bag to carry all those items home in.
Why not thank the librarians for continuing to do such a great job in the face of such uncertainty?
